UNION

Theatre | London, 2023

On the eve of the biggest deal of her career, Saskia, an uber-successful property developer runs from the meeting, all the way home down the Grand Union Canal.

Plagued by phone calls and ghosts, she meets a myriad of characters looking to make or break her. She realises, as her shiny life unravels, that she doesn’t know herself anymore or the city she once loved. Can she still save a little piece of it?

UNION is a wildly hilarious odyssey through London, in all its brilliant, booze-soaked yuppified but still punk glory. Just as Saskia fears she is losing her own soul to greed, it’s about the fear that London is losing that same battle but is still defined by a beautiful beating heart and the people who live in it.

Co-produced with Rua Arts and Velenzia Spearpoint, at the Arcola Theatre (19th Jul - 12 Aug.) Published by Methuen.

THE JOURNEY TO VENICE

Edith and Oscar Tellmann have been together since before they can remember. When their family life took a devastating turn, the couple found solace in travel and adventure. But now they’re well into their 80s, stuck in a drab, damp flat, surrounded by cats, books, memories, and leaking pipes. So as they journey into old age, the couple invent new ways to travel together…

The Journey to Venice is a celebration of ageing, fantasy, love, and the sacrifices we make to keep on living.

A modern Norwegian classic, the production won the Norwegian Ibsen Prize in 1992 and was televised in 1993. Recently revived in Norway, it has been staged in Germany, the Czech Republic and Denmark.

Anarchy Division staged the UK premiere at the Finborough Theatre (28 Feb - 25 Mar).

BIRDWATCHING

Theatre | London, 2021

At the centre of a forest, in a bitingly cold winter, three young people make a horror film. As the temperature drops and the light starts to die, old hates and fears are laid bare – and ignited.

Birdwatching examines the conventions of psychological horror – and draws them out to their most nightmarish conclusions. Creeping dread, punctuated by moments of terror, anger and brutality; the show is an account of obsession, power, gendered violence – and the individual ways we fall apart.

Debuted at the Space as part of the 2021 London Horror Festival (22-24 Oct.)

STRAY DOGS

Theatre | Brighton & London, 2021

“There are old coppers, and there are good coppers. There are no old good coppers.”

An incident of misconduct, an interrogation, and a dog that may or may not exist. New lines are drawn, and old faults uncovered. By a writer who spent nearly a decade in the police, Stray Dogs examines the rotten underbelly of police culture: pack mentality, what it means to be a ‘real copper’, and the consequences for stepping out of line.

Debuted at Brighton Fringe 2021 (12-13 June) before transferring to the Bread and Roses Theatre in London (28-30 June.)
